Easy Ribbon Embroidery Design Stitches



Ribbon embroidery was introduced in the 18th-century to beautify royal ball gowns. Delicate and beautiful  silk ribbon embroidery can turn your simple piece into a rich occasional piece. Ribbon motif is not only for dresses but you can use it to enhance other items such as pillow covers, household linens, jackets, photo frames, bags and purses.

Some of the basic simple stitches that you can use in ribbon embroidery are straight stitch, lazy-daisy stitch, stem stitch and French knot stitch. Using these simple stitches only, you can make a large variety of designs and patterns.
